A cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) is a trenchless rehabilitation methods used to repair existing pipelines. CIPP is a jointless, seamless, pipe-within-a-pipe with the capability to rehabilitate pipes ranging in diameter from 2”-12” for up to 150’ from a single access point which is often a cleanout or manhole. As one of the most widely used rehabilitation methods CIPP has application in residential and commercial sewer and drain pipes. Little to no digging is involved in this trenchless process, making for a more environmentally friendly method than traditional "dig and replace" pipe repair methods. The newly installed CIPP pipe will form a tight-fitting, jointless and corrosion-resistant replacement pipe. The rehabilitated pipe is then inspected by closed-circuit television (CCTV)

Typical Problems with Sanitary Sewer Pipes and Drains

  • Cracked or Broken Pipes – Broken pipes are the most common cause of backups into private homes and businesses. Many times even broken pipes can be lined with the Clear Drains CIPP System which is a fully structural pipe replacement.
  • Root Intrusion - Did you know your pipes can be damaged by a tree that is hundreds of yards away or even in a neighbor’s yard several houses down the street? When roots grow into your pipes it is called root intrusion. But the roots really aren’t to blame; it’s actually cracked pipes or bad joints that allow roots to break into pipes. Roots actively seek out pipes because they like to suck up the moisture from the pipes. Because condensation forms around pipes, tree and shrub roots are naturally drawn to pipes even when they are not broken. Older pipes are the most susceptible due to cracks, deformations and leaks. This often leads to blockages in your pipes. In the past, whenever a pipe was cracked by a surrounding tree root, many times it was necessary to remove the problem tree to prevent the tree roots from destroying the new pipe and to allow for installation of the new pipe. This is no longer needed with the use of CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe).
  • Groundwater Infiltration Offset or Separated Pipe Joints - This occurs when the seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe. This causes sewage to leak into the groundwater surrounding your home and fresh water to enter the sewer line causing un-needed water to be sent to the City wastewater treatment facility, this additional treated sewerage effluent is then discharged back into river, stream, or ocean in your City.
  • Corrosion - This occurs in cast iron pipes and often causes flow in the pipes to be slow that will cause backups and costly cleaning.
